Across the country, universities and colleges are using plagiarism services to stem the rising tide of academic dishonesty. The most popular and effective service is turnitin.com. Beginning Fall Semester 2004, all instructors in Instructional Services will have access to this valuable resource. This workshop will address the basics of the system and how instructors can use the service in their courses.

Dan Specter will demonstrate the use of a multimedia workstation in a classroom setting. He will show how to use the control panel to operate a computer, data projector, VCR, DVD player, and speakers. Also, participants will become familiar with the audiovisual equipment available for circulation from the Media Services department, including a digital still camera, digital video camera, laptop computer, portable data projector, portable videocassette player, and portable digital video player.

Our nation's use of the electoral college for electing the president can lead to the election of a candidate who received less than fifty percent of the popular vote. In a time when we are overly subjected to negative news images coming out of the Middle East, you can come see a presentation by Liz Penton on Islamic art and architecture. Learn about the three major forms of ornamentation and how to comprehend them.

ADD/ADHD

Health officials estimate that over 60% of persons who were diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) as children continue to have symptoms as adults. In addition, more adults are being diagnosed who were not evaluated as children. An estimated 2 to 4 percent of adults are affected by symptoms of ADD/ADHD. As a result, colleges are enrolling more students with ADD/ADHD, and more of these students are seeking disability accommodations. This presentation will discuss information relating to ADD/ADHD and the college student.
