Welcome
to the Northern Durham Center (NDC)!
Our staff is available
to support your instruction. Please feel free to ask for assistance.
The following information will acquaint
you with the services at the NDC:
ASSISTANCE
The telephone number for assistance
is 686-3500.
The Front Desk and Administrative
Area (Room 100) are staffed at all times to assist you. A Security
Officer is present after 4 PM. Classrooms and labs, which are generally
locked when not in use, will be unlocked by the Security Officer
or other staff when needed. Please let us know when you need early
access for any reason. In addition, Evening Coordinators are available
from 5 PM – 8 PM Monday through Thursday at the Front Desk.
When you are unable to teach your
class, please notify us as well as your Program Director so we can
inform your students and give an assignment if requested. If you
miss a class and arrange a makeup class with your Program Director,
please let us know. Furthermore, if you will be late or will meet
your class at another location, please notify us so that we can
inform your students.
SIGN-IN/MAIL
Signing in for each class is necessary
to verify your attendance for the payroll. Therefore, upon arrival
please sign the sheet on the table in the front of the Administrative
Area. You will also have a mailbox located in Room 100-F which should
be checked regularly.
Mail is delivered daily between the
NDC and Main Campus. Place outgoing mail in the basket on the floor
between the FAX machine and the photocopier. Recycled envelopes
for internal mail are located in Room 100-F.
FACULTY COMPUTER
The faculty computer is available
in the Lobby/Administrative Assistant Area for your use on a first-come
basis. The computer with MS Office Software is located on the counter
and labeled “Faculty Computer.” Internet access is also
available.
SUPPLIES AND
AV EQUIPMENT
Please request supplies such as board
marker, paper, or other items as needed. Classrooms are equipped
with an overhead projector, and most classrooms have a TV monitor.
Other equipment, such as VCR’s and slide projectors, should
be reserved in advance by calling 686-3500.
LIBRARY SERVICES
The NDC Library hours are posted.
The library contains books, magazines, computers, reference materials,
and AV materials. Faculty and students may also acquire materials
from the Main Campus through the NDC librarian, Toshi Shonek. Special
class projects can be arranged. For assistance, please telephone
686-3509.
COPY SERVICES
A photocopy machine for faculty is
located in the Administrative Area. Students use the photocopy machine
in the library.
Since the photocopy machine is used
frequently and may not be immediately available, please plan ahead
for copy service. To conserve paper, copy on both sides and, when
feasible, use recycled paper on the table near the copier.
The photocopy machine is not designed
for heavy-volume printing. Large printing projects may be sent to
the Copy Center at the Main Campus. Please complete the printing
request form located next to the photocopy machine and forward the
form with your project. It will be necessary to allow a two-day/evening
return for your project.
FAX MACHINE
The NDC FAX number is 686-3519. The
FAX machine should only be used for school related business. When
sending a FAX, 9 is used before a local FAX number and 8 is used
before a long distance FAX number.
SMOKING AREAS
The NDC is a smoke-free facility.
Please use only the designated smoking areas with special containers
located at the front of both buildings and at the rear of Building
l (the main building).
COLLEGE POLICY ON EATING/DRINKING IN
CLASSROOMS
College policy prohibits use of food
and beverages in all instructional areas. Please help us enforce
this policy with your students.
The Student Lounge, located in the
rear of Building 1, has vending machines and a dining area for your
convenience.
Thank you for making the NDC a pleasant
learning environment!
