| What
is it? |
The
TLC at Durham Tech collects and disseminates information and
ideas about effective and innovative methods of teaching and
learning. Resources include an annual journal, workshops, and
this web site, made possible in part by a grant from the Carl
D. Perkins Foundation. |
Provide
classroom workshops and one-on-one counseling for Durham Tech
students in need of job-seeking support. Assistance includes
help with identifying appropriate jobs and careers, writing
resumes and cover-letters, interviewing, and networking. |
Durham
Tech, the North Carolina Employment Security Commission, and
the Department of Social Services in Durham and Orange Counties
work together to identify and provide support to the area's
un- and underemployed. Services include weekly workplace preparation
workshops; monthly courses on re-careering, computer basics
for job-seeking; job search strategies, and customer service;
and one-on-one assistance with resume and cover-letter preparation. |
Durham
Workforce Partnership has sponsored this collaboration among
three school systems, Durham Tech, and a growing number of area
employers to raise awareness of pressing needs in both education
and the workplace and to create better communication among participants. |

forums sponsored by the TLC. Contribute to Learning Matters,
the TLC's annual journal. |

such as job seeking, resume and cover letter preparation, and
interviewing. Refer students who need help in these areas to
Tom Russo. |

needs of students. Refer eligible students to HRD. Volunteer
to offer feedback on participants' resumes and cover letters. |
