Blackboard Sites for Non-Instructional Uses
From DurhamtechWiki
The primary purpose of Durham Tech's Blackboard system is to enable instructors to provide online materials, resources, and activities for curriculum and continuing education classes.
"Non-instructional" Blackboard sites can be set up by special request for college-sanctioned committees, project teams, task forces, departments, etc. The following guidelines and procedures apply to these "non-instructional" uses of Blackboard:
[edit]
Guidelines
- Non-instructional Blackboard sites can be set up at the request of a college employee who has completed the pre-requisites to use Blackboard as an instructor.
- The person requesting the site is the "instructor" of the site, has Control Panel access, and is responsible for adding content to the site.
- The "instructor" must provide access to participants by adding or "enrolling" them in the course site (see Enrolling Users in Blackboard).
IMPORTANT: The "instructor" can add to the site only employees who already have Blackboard accounts at Durham Tech. Employees who do not already have accounts must follow the procedures to get a Blackboard account before the "instructor" can give them access to the site.
NOTE: If non-employees will need access to the site, please contact Karen McPhaul (mcphaulk@durhamtech.edu or 536-7213 x5903) to discuss details before proceeding.
- The "instructor" is responsible for communicating log-in information and providing assistance to all participants and for updating participant access (enrolling/removing participants as needed).
- Only one individual should have the "instructor" role (so it is clear who has primary responsibility for the site). However, if needed, the "instructor" can give others Control Panel access, by changing their roles from "student" to "TA" (see Enrolling Users in Blackboard).
