What's required to use Blackboard as an instructor at Durham Tech?
Durham Tech Blackboard Account
Before using Blackboard as an instructor at Durham Tech, you will need to have a Blackboard account created.
- New to Blackboard?
If you've never used Blackboard as an instructor, training is required before using Blackboard at Durham Tech. Your Blackboard account will be created after you register for the Intro to Blackboard online workshop. Once you register, information about your Blackboard account and instructions on how to complete the workshop will be emailed to you within 3 business days.
- New Instructors with Previous Blackboard Experience
If you are a new instructor at Durham Tech AND have used Blackboard as an instructor at another institution, click here and follow the directions to request your Blackboard account: Credit courses OR Continuing Education courses OR Adult Education or Basic Skills courses
Blackboard Training
Training is required for each instructor using Blackboard at Durham Tech.
- Decide how you will use Blackboard to teach online.
- Determine which Blackboard training workshops are required based on the info below.
- Your instructor Blackboard account will be created after you register for the Intro to Blackboard - Online! Information about your Blackboard account and instructions on how to complete the workshop will be emailed to you within 3 business days.

Register for Workshops Online!

Registration is required for all Blackboard workshops To register for workshops, follow these steps:
- Go to the registration page at Online registration
- Enter your email address and click continue
- Fill in the requested info and click continue
- Select sign up for a workshop
- Select the workshops you want to attend
- Submit the registration form
- Mark your calendar and attend!
I registered for workshops. Now what?
Intro to Blackboard - Online!
- After registering for the Intro to Blackboard - Online workshop your Blackboard account will be created.
- Information on how to get started with the workshop will be sent to you via email within 3 business days.
- You must complete this workshop before taking any other Blackboard workshops.
Building a Basic Course in Bb - Online!
After successfully completing the Intro to Blackboard - Online workshop, information about this workshop will be sent to you via email within 3 business days.
Other workshops
Depending on how you are using Blackboard you may register for more Blackboard (or other) workshops.
